Diamond Dogs – aka Phil & Olly – have been cultivating a steady fan base among both UK & US agencies with recent commissions from the likes of VCCP (O2), Wieden & Kennedy (Observer, Nokia), AMV (Snickers) and Leo Burnett (Miller) & DDB San Fransisco. Their expressive and witty comic style has been steadily taking shape since their very first music videos and as art directors working on some of the UK’s most interesting commercials. Playing a key role in the look of spots such as the Orange ‘Origami’ campaign and directing promos for The Hoosiers, Maximo Park, The Enemy, Black Ghosts, Tiny Dancers, Newton Faulkner & Jack Pinate, they have been evolving into one of the most distinctive directing duos in the UK.
In 2009, they won the Grand Prize in the Virgin Media Short Film Competition for their surrealist short entitled “The Black Hole”. The film was described by the judging panel as ‘beautifully crafted’ and exhibiting ‘perfect story-telling’ and went on to attract over 7.5 million hits on You Tube. Previous winners of BBH’s Cutlets competition, Diamond Dogs always look to bring a clever edge to their films, their work showing a flare for quirky character, a trademark feel for inventive art direction, and an almost handcrafted execution of offbeat ideas.
