Eva’s documentaries are poetic short films, beautifully composed & edited, and lyrically observed. She has created award-winning cinematic studies that have consistently won great critical acclaim for their gracefulness and their human insight.
She has been described as ‘a poet of negative space’ – whether it’s exploring the boundaries between public and private space in intercepted mobile phone conversations (‘The Intimacy of Strangers’ 2005), or the strangely silent space inhabited by crane operators high up in the skies above London (‘The Solitary Life of Cranes’
2008 * – voted ‘one of the top 5 films of the year’ by Sight & Sound).
Her films have played in festivals all over the world and picked up numerous awards including Best Short Documentary at The Britdoc Festival (2008), Best Short at The LA Film Festival (2008) and a nomination for the IDA Distinguished Short Documentary Award in 2009. Her debut in commercials - for Ireland’s Road Safety Authority - recently won a Silver Shark at Kinsale. Eva is currently finishing her latest project, ‘Lights Out’, a co-production with HSI.
