Simon has a natural instinct for dialogue performance, and effortlessly switches between visual styles, be it straight, stylized or more photographic. He is equally associated with a natural flare for comedic casting - a reflection of his background as one of the UK’s top casting directors.
Recently, Simon shot the action-movie hero
Jean-Claude van Damme in a series of much talked about spots for Coors Light. Frozen pants, sweaty bears and talkative nipples all made for an entertaining campaign that already looks like gaining somewhat of a cult status. Other work includes quirky character-driven spots for the likes of Axe, Adidas, Dr Pepper, Got Milk, BMW, Budweiser, McDonald’s, Burger King, Harley Davidson and Mini.
Simon has accumulated numerous awards, including BTAA, D&AD, Cannes Lions, Clios and The One Show. He has been twice nominated at the Directors’ Guild of America (DGA) for “outstanding directorial achievement in commercials”.
Simon has also been busy exploring longer format films with an intriguing short called ‘Traces’ & his fascinating personal documentary ‘So Help Me God’ – a humorous journey through the States exploring religion’s hold on American society.
